Denny Rehberg is different

“Denny Rehberg is different, an independent thinker,”

Rehberg refused to support a Republican budget plan that could harm the Medicare program so many of Montana’s seniors rely on.”

That would be the (VP candidate) Paul Ryan budget that guts Medicare and replaces it with a wimpy voucher system. Sorry Grandma. At least you have Dennis Rehberg standing up for you. Why would Denny vote for Montanans and against his own party during an election year? “Seniors make up 14.5 percent of Montana’s population, according to the 2009 American Community Survey one-year estimate. The national average in the survey is 12.9 percent.”

The GOP ad argues that Rehberg voted against Ryan’s plan because it “could harm the Medicare program.”

According to Ezra Klein:

Over the next decade, Ryan plans to spend about 16 percent less than the White House on “income security” programs for the poor — that’s everything from food stamps to housing assistance to the earned-income tax credit. (Ryan’s budget would authorize $4.8 trillion between 2013 and 2022; the White House’s would spend $5.7 trillion.) Compared with Obama, Ryan would spend 25 percent less on transportation. He’d spend 6 percent less on “General science, space, and basic technology.” And, compared with the White House’s proposal, he’d shell out 33 percent less for “Education, training, employment, and social services.”

And by Jebus, Denny just won’t stand for that kind of unfair biased budgeting. “I’m excited that Gov. Romney chose my friend and House colleague Paul Ryan to be our party’s candidate for Vice President,” Rehberg wrote. “It’s clear that Gov. Romney and Congressman Ryan are the right team to lead our nation in that comeback.”
