Best Health Care System in the World

Why would we want to change this wonderful system and move to a rational system that provides affordable health care for our families?

  1. How many Montanans had to choose between paying traffic fines, DUI school costs, and mandatory auto insurance. A food stamp survey done by the Montana DPHHS indicated 18 of 96 food stamp applicants said auto insurance, fines, and mandatory auto insurance was a reason for needing food stamps. How come you made no effort to find out how many need food bank assistance due to these three motor vehicle costs? I will not contribute to your food bank until you do a decent survey and find out this data.

Another good study is at http://www.autoreform.org/090998mar.pdf (44% said they could not buy food due to mandatory auto insurance.) Your survey has a big hole in it, Ignoring the nrs needing food bank assistance due to motor vehicle law costs, will not cause it to go away. And I repeat, I will not donate to a food bank until you find out how many need food bank assistance due to traffic fines, DUI school costs, and mandatory auto insurance. Please, use a little professionalism in your survey.

    • Thanks for your comment. There are many reasons why our friends need occasional help. One of the largest is the ever-increasing cost of health insurance and health care. The costs of food, fuel, rent/mortgage or many other things can force families to look for assistance. It seems to me to be rather convoluted logic to say that you will not extend a helping hand to your neighbors because you disagree with the reasons they cannot feed their families. You can choose whether or not to drive a car. You can certainly choose not to drive while intoxicated. It may be inconvenient, but you cannot choose not to get cancer or diabetes or become disabled. This is a problem that has an easy solution. All we need to do is band together to demand a decent health care system and support our elected representatives who agree with us.
