Rebranding the Republican stigma. Big News, the GOP has decided that maybe they lost the election because they were too moderate. In order to “form a new foundation” and “empower the American people” they are bring forth a new Policy-based Forum for Thoughtful Dialogue With the American People”. Forming the National Council for a New America. And who are these radical new leaders of the Republican trademark? How about, Lamar Alexander, Roy Blunt, John Boehner, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney, John Kyl, Haley Barbour, John Cornyn, and Jeb Bush. Yep, the same folks who created the mess are standing at the ready with brushes and sponges to clean it up using new, avant-garde ideas.
The Council wants to put forth “Real Solutions” to the nation’s problems, alluding to the fact that the solutions they have put forth so far were not based in reality. What are these cutting-edge solutions to our pressing issues? In their statement of principles you will find Real Solutions to: The Economy: Lower taxes, Less Spending, Less Debt. Health Care: Reduce “frivolous lawsuits that benefit trial lawyers over patients”. Energy: No. 1 solution: “America has vast resources of untapped oil, natural gas, and coal. However, government regulations and frivolous lawsuits are preventing us from utilizing these resources”. On Education: Yeah, you already guessed, Vouchers. Damn! Where did they come up with these revolutionary ideas? At least they are smart enough to not mention Gay Marriage or Abortion, and oh yeah, they didn’t let Sarah Palin join. The website has too much Flash and way to many Fox News videos, but they do have a cool blog where you can weigh in on their ideas. Now….be nice, after all they think they are trying.
