Darwin Day Feb. 12, 2009

darwindayOn Feb. 12, 2009 science lovers around the world will celebrate the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin. It is also the 150th anniversary of the publication of  On The Origin Of Species, the book that fundies love to hate and misquote. Look for Darwin Day activities in your part of the world and show your support for evidence-based science and humanism.

Related Note: It seems the Chinese have dug up another feathered dino (read: transitional fossil). The pre-feathers on this beastie, beipiaosaurus consist of stiff, hollow spines that were predicted by discoveries of other feathered dinosaurs but never found fossilized until now. Hmmm….seems like some theories do have predictive power. Great slide show with this article on WSJ online as well.

Just one more nail in the coffin of ID cuckoos. So, once again, get out there on Feb. 12th and celebrate the existence and transcendence of non-faith-based science!  Happy Birthday Chuck!
